Abbott Laboratories received a scolding from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission on Thursday for paying another drug maker to keep a generic version of its hypertension drug, Hytrin, off the market. The consent order approved by the commission Thursday includes no financial penalties for Libertyville Township-based Abbott or Novartis AG’s Geneva Pharmaceuticals Inc.
